Nation’s Most Knowledgeable Sports Enthusiasts Win Trip to Sports Legends Challenge

CARLSBAD, Calif., August 18, 2009 - After an hour-long training camp, a three-week long qualifying round and a three-day final round, NTN Buzztime, Inc. has revealed its 18 grand prize winners from its 25 Years of Sports Trivia Championship.

In honor of its 25th anniversary, the interactive gaming company partnered with Sports Legends Challenge to create the 25 Years of Sports Championship trivia contest with the grand prize being a trip to the Bahamas. More than 141,000 players battled it out in over 3,900 bars and restaurants, from their online accounts and through their mobile phones to tally a total of over 1.6 billion points across North America. The Final Round of 25 Years of Sports took place August 12-14, during which the highest scorers from the Qualifying Round each played at a location of his/her choice for the ultimate prize.

Gameplay in the event allowed Buzztime to find the most and least sports knowledgeable cities and states in the country.  And although Wichita, Kansas was only ranked the 50th most sports-knowledgeable city out of 186 total greater city areas, 20 percent of individual winners from the 25 Years of Sports Trivia Championship were from that city.

With each prize valued at $12,000, winners (and a guest) will enjoy an all-expense paid trip to Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas, entry into the Sports Legends Challenge event and Poker Tournament, plus $500 spending cash.  While winners not only get to enjoy the beauty of the Bahamas, they also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the biggest names in sports including Mike Ditka, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Emmitt Smith, Julius Erving, “Sugar” Ray Leonard and more.  

To further reward its online community and show appreciation for the support of its players, Buzztime has set aside one ticket for its loyal social networking fans. The company is currently in the midst of receiving one-minute long videos on its Facebook fan page searching for the “ultimate sports fan” to send along with the other 18 grand prize winners.
