BuzzSpeak Lesson #9

Friday, 21 October 2011 13:47

In part 1-8 of BuzzSpeak we went over some of the words you might hear at a Buzztime location: Lone Wolf, Precall, Buzzie, YO-YO, Two-Timer, slam handle, brain fart and Angel of Mercy to name a few. In this edition of Buzzspeak we will discuss some of the non-players in the Buzztime universe and a slight side effect of playing too long.

Don't tank your game!Tank a game. There are a couple of uses for the word tank. Someone can intentionally lose the game for various reasons = he tanked it.

Alt: Crater (verb)--to experience massive failure in a round of a game, as in "I was doing pretty well in Showdown until I cratered the Pyramid Round."

Vibrate - When your fingers are perched on the keyboard because you're not sure of the answer, and the last clue comes up and you switch off the right answer momentarily for no good reason. (then immediately switch back)

Alt: Trigger Fingers - you have no idea of the answer, you actually have your fingers positioned on the other choice left, you switch when the clue comes up, only to find out that your original answer was correct, 750 down the drain. This effect multiplies as the beers amass.

Take a Knee - (In Showdown, Spotlight, or Playback) To wager the minimum percentage of ones current score (and/or abstain) on the final question, so as to remain above the P+ Bonus threshold

Rel: Coward Out - only betting 10% or less.

Enjoy using these new terms and phrases, and I hope that you don't 'Tank a game' any time soon.

Until next lesson... Good luck and good fun!
