TIGER IS OUT OF THE CAGE

He will not take any questions. The audience is being specifically selected. There will only be one camera. He will read a statement that is pre-written. Everyone knows he is going to apologize. What everyone doesn’t know is what will happen next. When will he play? How will he play when he does play? I feel like I have a good idea about the answer to those questions: 1.) I am going to guess that he will play at the Masters or in a tourney shortly thereafter. Basically, it won’t be long. 2.) He will dominate and be better than ever. Why do I believe these things to be true? When it comes to golf, competition and his life’s work Tiger Woods is a psycho (or in sports terms, he has a ‘killer instinct’). Tiger Woods is the Michael Jordan of Golf in that they are both obsessively competitive and on the verge of psychosis. Example: Woods is giving this public speech during a WGC Match Play tournament sponsored by Accenture, one of the companies that dropped him. You think that is a coincidence? Guess again. It’s just the start of a lot of ‘F U’s’ that are going to take place in the near future. But, how do I really know Tiger will dominate when he plays again? Michael Jordan’s Hall of Fame speech was incredible because we got a glimpse into the mind of the most excessively competitive, almost psychotic and greatest athlete of all time. His entire speech was dedicated to telling everyone in the audience who was responsible for throwing ‘logs’ on the ‘fire’ that was his natural competitive nature (High school coach for cutting him, his UNC roommate for getting more press, etc). He said, ‘When you have accomplished as much as I have you look for anything to get you motivated to play the game of basketball.’ Tiger Woods does not need to look anywhere anymore. Not for a long time. Right now it is Tiger Woods against the world. Fellow golfers are not defending him (or worse) and people are even upset about the way in which he is handling his first public appearance. I mean, how much motivation does he have to dominate and destroy every one on the golf course right now? How much motivation does he have right now to win and become the best? This seriously could get ugly. You see, Tiger Woods has had it BEYOND easy his whole life (Especially compared to Jordan’s life). The major adversity he had was that he tore his ACL. He responded to that by winning a major on essentially a broken leg. Had the surgery and came back even better. Now Tiger Woods is facing the most personal and public adversity of any player in any sport with his given competitive nature. Wow, look out! The level of which he might start to dominate the game will surprise a lot of people, but I am not one of them. It might not happen immediately; even Jordan struggled when he came back in 1995. However, once his rhythm is back, he is going to take all the emotions, words, press, news stories, blogs and use them as mental ammunition to fuel his ‘killer instinct’, which should reach a level that has never been seen before. I can’t wait. Comments (0) Share this page! |
